Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar), CNPq Research Productivity Fellow and senior project leader in Data Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence and Natural Language Processing. He has extensive experience in teaching, coordinating and developing cutting-edge research and qualified training in Computational Intelligence, Machine Learning and Pattern Recognition. He serves as Associate Editor of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence (special section of the journals Frontiers in Artificial Intelligence and Frontiers in Big Data) and as Guest Editor of the International Journal of Information Security Science. He has served as chair in several renowned conferences, including the Journal Track of ECML-PKDD. He is the author of an award-winning and best-seller book on machine learning and +100 international high-quality peer-reviewed scientific papers.
